Imran khan landed in Saudi Arabia on 7th May 2021 to kick start it’s three day long and very important visit after the recent rift created after certain unnecessary irresponsible statements from both side’s but the good thing is now we are back on track. Imran khan was welcomed by crown prince Muhammad Bin Salman at Jeddah Airport and army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa is already in kingdom and will catch up prime Minister khan in his visit, there will be some usual memorandum signed between both the countries to increase the bilateral cooperation and reiterate commitment to previous understandings that is why a team of different ministers and advisors are with Imran khan in that visit. The visit is really important and was much needed to break the ice because despite some recent set backs and cold relations Saudi Arabia have stead fastedly supported Pakistan in every difficult situation so had Pakistan, our relations with Saudi Arabia even dates back to pre partition Era when king Abdul aziz sent a cheque of 10000 Euros to Quide Azam on his request to help the victims of Bengal Famine in 1943. When Pakistan was facing extreme economic sanctions from U.S and E.U after the nuclear tests in may 1998 and our foreign exchange reserves were at 600 million dollars against the foreign debt of 38 billion dollars it was king fahad who helped Pakistan by giving its petro dollars in aid and oil on differed payments along with diplomatic and moral support. So our relations with Saudi Arabia are historical and of extreme importance should not be sacrificed for some minor gains and some imaginary counter Ummah block there are still more than 2.7 million Pakistanis working in Saudi Arabia which sent 6 billion dollars to Pakistan in remittances annually, our Prime focus and priority should be the well being of our citizens and the interest of Pakistan. The recent rift started after the cold response of Kingdom on the issue of kashmir and delaying the foreign minister meeting of OIC on Kashmir issue the problem is that OIC is a toothless organization and it’s statement on kashmir would bring no difference on ground after acknowledging this fact we can think of a solution, the solution lies inside nobody is coming to rescue us every one has its own legitimate concerns and interests to get the favorable solution of kashmir dispute acceptable to both Pakistan and Kashmiris we need a strong Pakistan with required diplomatic/economic/military/political muscle or else there is no need to damage your relations with time tested Allies and strategic partners at the expense of kashmir issue.
